TIRAMISU

It’s no surprise that Tiramisu is a very famous Italian dessert.  The translation of the name means “pick-me-up”, metaphorically, “make me happy”.  And that’s exactly what it does!!! 🙂  The original recipe has been altered so many times, and in many different counties,  but the method is always the same.  Tiramisu is a layered dessert, consisting of alternating layers of coffee-soaked Savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers) with a Whipped Sweet Mascarpone Cheese Mixture with Flavored  Liqueur & Sifted Cocoa.    Mascarpone Cheese can be difficult to find in some stores, so many recipes have  replaced it with regular Cream Cheese.  I hope you find this recipe not only very easy to make, but super YUMMY!!! 🙂

INGREDIENTS

Here’s what you need:

1 Package Ladyfingers

1/2 Cup Sugar

1 Cup Water, HOT

3 – 4 TBSP Instant Coffee

2 Eggs

1 Package (8 oz) Cream Cheese, softened

1 1/3 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream

2 TBSP Cocoa

8 x 8 inch Pan

Whip Heavy Cream

With an electric mixer or by hand, whisk the Heavy Whipping Cream until it reaches Stiff Peaks.  Set aside.

Add Eggs to Mix

Add Eggs to Cream Cheese Mix.

In another bowl, beat the Cream Cheese and Sugar until Smooth.

Then beat in the Eggs until well combined.

Add Whipped Cream to Mix

Fold in the Whipped Cream.

Fold the Whipped Cream into the Cream Cheese Mixture.  Set aside.

Dip Ladyfinger

Dip Ladyfinger

In a shallow dish mix Instant Coffee & Hot Water.

Dip each Ladyfinger into Coffee for about 5 seconds, rotating to coat each side.

**PLEASE NOTE: Ladyfingers will Fall Apart if  you let them soak for too long or if the Coffee is too Hot**

Arrange Ladyfingers in 8 x 8 Pan.

If necessary, break Ladyfingers in half  in order to cover bottom completely.

Spread Mixture

Spread Mixture Evenly

Pour Half of the Cream Cheese Mixture onto the Ladyfingers and Spread Evenly.

Sprinkle Cocoa

Sprinkle Cocoa

Sprinkle with Sifted Cocoa.

Arrange another Layer of Soaked Ladyfingers and Top with remaining Cream Cheese Mixture.

Sprinkle with more Sifted Cocoa.

Cover Tiramisu with Plastic Wrap or Foil and refrigerate for 4 to 8 hours.
